Installing 997/987 Tip shift knob in 986?

Have any tried to install the 997.1/987.1 Tip shift knob into our cars?
Please let me know if they are inter-changeble

I've done it. First went for an eBay short-shifter but wasn't happy with the precision so installed the 997 shifter.

Easy job. Lots of descriptions here in the Technical section on how to do it.

but I guess yours is manual? I'm trying to see whether the tiptronic shift knob from 997 or 987 could fit on 986. did try to search online but no any findings =(
