I always find it interesting when people say that their BMW was expensive to maintain. But then, I do pretty much everything myself and I know where to find quality parts (often OEM) at reasonable prices. And I never, ever go to the stealership! I doubt I ever spend more than $500 in any given year on maintenance.

However, I do know what my next car will be. A nice clean 996 with a bad motor. And I will be installing a nice 400+ hp LS3 type motor in it. I know it will be frowned upon by some, but I think it will be a fantastic combination!

After several BMWs all of which have been cheap to maintain , I think I have found the ideal combo .
That is a new fully optioned Subaru Outback for the daily running around and my old 2000 986S for the sunny days and just going out for a spin , both bring a smile to the face , after all they are both boxers arn't they ??

I hated the engine in my Forester, As soon as it got to 3000 RPM it sounded like it was going to tear itself apart. Contrast that with the Porsche engine that gets happier and happier as the revs increase.

Comparing fours to sixes?
Subaru sixes are nice and smooth.
The fours sound goofy and a bit thrashy as they rev, likely due to the oddball firing order that the flat 4 enploys compared to a typical inline 4 cylinder.
But I digress, this has absolutely nothing to do with sport sedan recommendations, sorry.
