ok ,, I have the whole engine stripped down ,, looks like the damage was a broken spring that collapsed the Lifter and caused the valve to gouge the cylinder wall.

I may have found a low mileage clean used engine for a decent price but its out of an 06 I have searched to see if it was compatible with the DME in the car but can not find anything definitive ,, can anyone confirm that the 06 would work ??

You can make it work but it takes someone who knows what they're doing to switch lots of parts from your dead engine onto the good motor. Be very careful. Something about locking the cams to remove the oil pumps or something like that. Hopefully JFP will chime in with the correct info. I don't know much about those later motors but I know it can be done
