Here is one of the other ones. A beautiful one; manual with OEM nav. I have said it before... if I were shopping for a Boxster this is the one I would have my sites on. Love the silver/brn combo. And then do what 10/10ths did and get some work done on it to set a baseline.

Beautiful car but I don't think the upgrades from a regular S justify the price. The price range between a base to an S seems to be between 2-5k for similar mileage, condition cars. Talking 10-15 k from an S to one of these.

Again, beautiful car.

Wow, that's a lot they're asking for those though. For same money, you can get same year 996 Cab.

Same one mentioned in post #17 of this thread back in August. $35k back then and it had already been on eBay for a while.

No wonder it's so pricey -- it has the 3.0 L engine AND the 3.2 L engine.

I finally got a chance to look at the Spyder from the original post. It is as good in person as it is in the pictures. I did not drive it. He does not have much in the way of maintenance history. This is the first Spyder I have seen in person. The interior is amazing. It makes the 'full' leather interior of my base feel downright pedestrian. Thankfully, he wants more than I can justify paying at this time. Otherwise, I could definitely enjoy/drive that car.

The gentleman selling it specializes in unique high end cars. He has been in business for +/- 9 years. He had two additional very nice Boxsters on the floor as well as a fancy Mercedes and a very nice BMW Z3 plus others.

There's a butt for every seat....

.....and it's worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it.

Now, having said that, I probably over paid for my very own 550 SE.

I used to sell cars for a living, did it for over five years. It's a tough gig. I did something I swore I would NEVER do, I bought my 550 SE from a little corner exotic car specialty dealership.

The reason why is pretty simple, this dealership picked up the car in an auction. It had been traded in to a dealership by the original owner to buy an SUV for her daughter. They had a full Car Fax. The car was meticulously maintained by a Porsche dealership. I called the dealership that performed the service and talked to the service writer and he knew the car and the owner and verified everything. Shoot, she changed the brake fluid every two years, by the book. Few people actually do THAT.

I also talked to the guy who inspected the car before they sent it to the auction and he verified everything.

So, I had full service records, I personally verified that they were real, I test drove the car, the car had the EXACT options I wanted, the car was close enough, and the car only had 25,000 miles on her.

So, a year and a half ago, I paid high twenties for this car. Others were selling from 18-24 at the time depending on mileage and condition.

I wanted THAT car. I paid for THAT car.

I don't regret it for a second. I love this car, I've put 13,000 miles on her in about a year, with trips all over the country. I'm thrilled.

Better to pay a little too much and get a good one, then cheap out and catch a basket case.

BUT, that's too much for a tiptronic SE.
