I had a similar issue except we have 3 cars, but only a 2 car garage. My wife's car, a SUV, gets a spot in the garage as well as my Boxster. My DD sedan sits outside. When we started collecting more and more junk (snow blower, generator, etc) that started taking up more space, wife suggested I move the Boxster out to fit all this junk. Told her no way, and that instead, I'd move said junk into a shed. If her car can stay in the garage, why can't mine? You gotta put your foot down.

I remember a video of extreme conditions testing Porsche enginneers put the boxster prototype through. I realized then that the car was really made to handle almost anything. Good for them. What else would you expect from a Porsche? I think about that still when I get funny about driving in the rain or any kind of pampering. My suggestion to your dilemma is to get rid of whatever you can. If you don't do it now, you'll wonder why you waited so long when the time comes that you do.

Time to put some overhead shelving in the garage. Some 2x4's and some plywood - get the basement stuff up off the floor.

Might also be time for a small backyard shed.

Mine spent one winter in an unheated storage unit for $90 a month. Northern IL hit -20 that winter. No real issues, my 5 yr old battery gave up the ghost because I had no access to electricity. I found heated storage for $65 a month the last two winters. We have a 2 stall garage and 5 cars ... the Box spends the summers in the garage. I went the yard shed route for the mower / snowblower / etc. I just can't bring myself to drive it in the slush and salt we have around here.
