Incredibly unlikely. A check engine light only triggers when the same event happens a few times. You've got some issue that is causing a light. But if you know anything about these cars, you need to have the codes before we can even start guessing. Autozone would be a quick way to get them or buy a cheap elm 327 bluetooth module and the torque pro app for your phone. Good investment.
