Top vandalized - Question about GAHH Top

Well, since some kind person decided to slash my (perfect!) roof and rear window to steal my windstop and inserts I now need a new roof.
I was all set to do the GAHH Glass window top but my dealer tells me that the top cant be put in the Service position and must be removed to service the engine.

Anyone have experience with that?

Thanks

I feel your pain :ah:
My top/window cut last week. INsurance company paid 2300. Contacted NAHH and now have to get an installer. Call to first installler was not promissing. My dealer said they wont install aftermarket tops. Havent ruled out the oem plastic window top by dealer b/c of concerns with instilation.

As for your question about service position, there is a prior thread or two on the subject. In short, it appears there is some reduction in access to engine, but most repairs/maintenance can be performed without a problem. For the few times more room is needed, the top can be "unhitched?" without that much difficulty.

That's disturbing that either:

another Porsche owner is a psychopath

or

there are people following Boxster owners around to steal their stuff!
I find it very unlikely that a theif would just happen to have stumbled
upon your Boxster. I don't think the average dirt bag would know that
the windstop and screens can fetch a few bucks on ebay.

Have you checked on ebay? Maybe you can set up a nice trap.

But what a dirt merchant, $1000 worth of damage so he can make $150

I would go with the Porsche owner is a psychopath, it just seems to easy.. they did not take my V1... odd Seems like he/she/they were just after the windstop & Screens.
very frustrating and by the time I am done allot more then $1000 damage.

the windstop and screens retail over $450, more than the cost of my Valentine One....sucks nonetheless. I have a GAHH top and have attempted to put into service position..clearly not as much clearance as OEM top but seems that the engine is accessible...one dealer would not talk to me about non-OEM top, the other referred me to a local upholstery shop.

Dealer seems fine with doing the GAHH top for me.
