PDR is a valid method of repairing small dings and dents. There isn't so much Voo-Doo to it as there is patience and experience.
I attended an Open House at an area Exoctic Car repair facility (GT Cars in Bloomington). They had a PDR guy there to do a demonstration. He brought a Honda Civic he owned and invited people to ding and dent it and then he went on to repair the damage.
The key is to reform the metal without stretching it. You'd be surprised how far away from the actual dent they will sometimes start to insure that they're moving it slightly without stretching the area. Special tools are used to access the backside of the panel, almost always from some distant access point so as to avoid drilling any holes. This is not always possible, depending on the damage location, but for a good PDR man, this would be a last approach. It can take upwards of 20 min. to get a good repair to some areas, several tools are used and multiple passes are made. It takes some time, but once complete, it is truly invisible. It ain't cheap, but then, what Bodywork is..?? Hope this helps...
