Burning smell.....
Seems when ever i come home from any type of drive longer than 10-15 mins... there is a burning smell outside the car. I have ignored it for the most part thinking it is just the brakes (smell like brakes)...But my paranoia has started to tug at me thinking it could be related to a possible oil overfill-- (after dealer o/c i show full bars on the digital indicator)
I dont even know if too much oil would somehow cause this, but as i say, that's paranoia at work.
Anyone/Everyone experience this????

How many miles are on your 987S? It could be the undercoating still burning off.

oh man rondog - i swear my shimmy started first as a burning smell...oh wait, maybe that's my epilepsy or schizophrenia

mach schnell- My 06 987 with 2500 miles has the same smell after a long run. Nothing seems wrong.(and no shimmy). I don't see any oil spots and have not worried about it. Should I?

Yeah.... i think it's just brakes.... but that little voice in the back of my wallet keeps yappin at me....
Mach.. anything i can do to bring a smile Mrs Schnell is a mitzvah...Gawd knows the poor woman has to put up with your nitpicking....Something tells me you don't complain about her shimmy....!

same story here...always noticeable after 15 mins. of driving or so...I just chalked it up to new mechanics doing their thing...should wear off after awhile I'm hoping. anyway, we all seem to have it, so there's some comfort in numbers here....

All my Porsches do this, regardless of the mileage.

Same here. If I close the garage right when I get back from a drive, the whole garage smells likes something is burning. I feel better now that it is happening to others as well, kinda makes me nervous.
