Well I think I may have screwed up. As I mentioned in my previous post, the connection of the fuel line (I believe the pressure line) to the passenger side fuel rail would not separate, even after loosening the nut all the way. I believe the name of the type of connection that is used and that was stuck is a "globe-seal" type of connection. I tried all kinds of spray lubricants to help loosen the connection but none of them worked. I ended up cutting the fuel line right at the fitting (bad mistake?) so that i could remove the fuel rails from the car and get it over to the bench to try to free the metal connection from the fuel rail. It actually required putting the fuel rail in a vise and vise grips on the globe seal male fitting before i could apply enough torque to break it loose from the fuel rail. I guess fuel residue had turned into some kind of adhesive over the years?
Anyways, a new replacement fuel line is hard to come by (Part #98620126700). It appears that they are all on backorder and it is unknown when they might become available.
Two questions:
1. Does anyone know where i can source a used fuel line? or
2. Has anyone replaced the line with any kind of a non-factory setup or made a repair to the fuel line. Based on my research, there appears to be a lot of reluctance to do anything but replace with factory.
Race/track season is quickly approaching and I've got to get a SAFE repair done soon.
