Cam Lock Tool for IMS update...Dimensions?

Does anybody have the dimensions for the "Cam Lock" tool for when I do my IMS bearing?

All I need is for someone to do a 1:1 scan of it on a scanner, and then send me a file with the dimensions. A CAD drawing would be awesome, but not expected. I also need to know the thickness of the part.

I have the car torn apart, but the engine is not removed (986 3.2). My back is shot, so R&D'ing the part to make a new one from scratch is not looked forward to with enthusiasm, as it would require under-the-car gymnastics. No, well, not if someone could help me in this thread. lol

Before anybody says "You can't make those!", yes I can. I have a lathe and a mill in my basement, and a LOT of clean scrap steel plate.

I tried searching for such a subject, but failed.

BTW...That part is a $10 part if made in quantity.

My understanding is you don't need spec drawings at all. Make your own. Owning the M96 engine is all you need. Apparently;

Our porsche indy/specialist here regularly drop by my place to profile & machine parts off my manual mill so I can't imagine it as being that difficult using the basic engine measurements (which you already have). Hand written notes on a greasy piece of paper and off he goes.

All I know is his parts are all similar looking to those you posted. All for diff engines... he does it all himself mate, he's fun to watch also

If I understand his post correctly, he wants to build the parts before he tears the engine apart. Hence the request for dimensions.

Noticed the "back hurt" part just now also :/ I read faster than my little brain can follow. Too technical to explain, don't ask!

Just txt'ed my indy for pics, got "busy" as reply. Hopefully someone else can snap a high resolution pics with a ruler as reference. Think that'd be enough to get those 2D parts drawn quickly

The year matters. The tool is different for 2003 and later.

^ 3 chain. The five chain is the long one with two locking tabs.

the short tool is for the 5 chains as the the grooves in the camshafts do not line up.
you can lock only the lower camshaft. (which is fine as the 2 camshafts are connected via another chaine)



on the 3 chains they will line up, so you can tie them against each other with the long tool.

OMG... I knew I should have checked this earlier!

I ended-up tweaking my back out to just make my own three-chain cam locks. Yes, they turned-out almost exactly like the one pictured above, but instead of a hole for bolt, I made an open-ended slot.

The one for the front, banks 1-3 is flat, The one for the back, banks 4-6 I made offset. Worked fine so far,

800mm length, that's nearly a metre long, pretty bi tool, is it supposed to be 80mm?
