black or silver wheels
I have a 99 with the twist 17" wheels, the clear coat is peeling off and I will be refinishing them, car is red, wheels are silver now, I'm debating between refinishing them in silver or black with red pinstripe around the rim, any opinions?

Black. Plastidip works great. Not happy, peel it off. I've had it on for two years now with only issue being small spots here and there after a new set of tires. Touch up is easy. Cost me $4.

OEM Silver!. If they were 18" I'd say black, but I had mine black before(17" twists) and they made the wheel look too small on the car.

Silver and then repaint your calipers at the same time if needed.

Factory silver.
Black is trendy plus the look of the wheel gets some what lost. From a distance it can look like black steelies that lost their hubcaps.

Plastic-dip is cool for the first hour. Then you realize they just look faded, flat, and brake-dusty a week later. If you have to stick with 17 twisties, I would keep them silver. If you had the ability to powder coat some 18s, then we're talking...

Tirerack.com, discounttire.com and some other vendors have a wheel visualizer tool where you can try different wheels on your color car. It's hard to find a good one where you have both a wide selection of wheels and a 986. Using a 987 you can see a few more options.
IMO, silver is the best with the red.
...and I would definitely say, not green.

I am about to do the same thing. I have a 3X black S w/ Carrera 18"s which were slightly damaged by the PO's tire guy. I plan to have them powdercoated black locally in NJ for $600

I also have to cast my vote for silver.....it's the best color for a red car.

ANY color but silver! (ok, maybe not lime green). Why look like every other red Boxster? Stand out.

Silver wheels with metallic copper calipers is a good combination also. Red calipers are too common.

In my opinon the color of the rims depends also on the design...but I was wondering what is the best combination of black color car silver rims and calipers??
What do u suggest?
I am attaching a picture of mine and I would like to hear your feedback for chaning the rims color, they are 18inches.
