Rebuilding a Race Car legend

Did anybody watch the building of the new Ford GT? Very interesting to watch how the car was built using virtual software. Another interesting fact that I didn't know (you race fanatics probably do) is that Ford tried to buy Ferrari. Could you imagine that? Look what Ford did to Jaguar...it would be a sad day when a Ferrari looked like a Ford Taurus.

Don't know what story of the Ford/Ferrari acquisition was included in the TV program on the new Ford GT, but the one related by Brock Yates in his book "Enzo Ferrari" indicated the deal fell through when Enzo demanded to keep total control of the Ferrari racing operation, even after "selling" his company to Ford for a paltry, by todays standards, $18 million.
When the deal fell through, Henry the Deuce reportedly said "OK then, we'll kick his ass", thus initiating the celebrated Ford - Ferrari Wars of the mid-60's, culminating in the 1966 Ford Mk IV 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans.

My boss just took delivery on a silver Ford GT and drove it to the office last Friday. Rather nice. Scary fast. But it lacks both a glove box and cup holders. :ah:

Ronzi,

That is exactly right according to the show. Who owns Ferrari?

Ferrari is held by Fiat.

There are spinoff rumors every once in a while. I believe Ferrari is about the only branch of ther company making money.
