I purchased a 1997 last November from a local Porsche dealer. Car was PPI'd and came with no warranty. I drive the car as a daily driver but only put on about 600 miles per month. It has been driven in all conditions ranging from snow to shine. So far I have had an oil change ($85.00) at a nearby Firestone shop. I put Blizzaks on for the Winter ($800.00) and switched them out first week of April and returned to the Michelin Pilots the car came with. ($0 mounting and balancing) as part of the Blizzak deal. Also had the car aligned twice, once after purchase and upon tire switch. ($79.95 Lifetime) also at the local Firestone on Hunter equipment. I also purchased a right front flappy thing from dealer for $12.00. Observations: Compared to my previous Mustang this is a whole new level of performance and handling. I probably would enjoy more HP but the driving this car is so much fun I don't complain! The overall condition of the vehicle cosmetically is near perfect. Interior and exterior are near new. (With the exception of the underside of the front bumper, minor scrapes) Most people who see the car think it is brand new. I read this forum daily and have learned a ton. I also thought I would post periodically on this car since my plan is to keep it completely original and stock. As far as RMS, Coolant tank, and other potential problems are concerned, heck the thing is 9 years old! It's paid for, and I've paid $800 bucks for a timing belt, water pump on my #1 son's '94 Camry with 140,000 on it and dropped $900 on the old Fiero for a harmonic balancer. Older cars do break and I think an owner must be prepared for the possibility. I chose not to purchase an extended warranty for the Boxster as it was about $2500 for three years. Yup, I may regeret it if I lose an engine, but I will gamble on that one. No doubt this car was a "garage queen (13,000 miles now)" but so far so good. Will issue another report in November.
