Time to say goodbye!
She's up for sale locally here in OKC. Sad to be selling the Boxster but it's not going to be practical for me everyday anymore, and I can't afford to keep her and another car. I'd appreciate it if you guys check out the Ad and share with anyone you think might be interested.
1999 PORSCHE BOXSTER
Cheers,
OB

I'm sorry to hear it, man! But I totally get it. Hopefully you'll be back with a new one soon.
The addiction is strong.

Really nice looking car...asking price is really optimistic IMO but it would be nice if boxster values were headed this way.

I totally understand about the price, I'm just not looking to give it away with the thousands I've spent to get her into this nice of a condition. I'd probably take the first $11,000 that was offered. Maybe someone will come along and want a Boxster that has been cared for by it's owner, unlike many. There's a 2001 non s listed for $14,000. Probably less miles. We will see though! I've learned many lessons about buying a used Porsche, and I feel like I need to get out before this thing sucks many more thousands out of me.

Sorry to see you go!
Gorgeous paint and wheels!
FYI: Litronics are xenon, not bi-xenon (high beam is halogen, not xenon).
You should add a picture of the color matched center console.

Thank you! Didn't know that about the headlights. And I may add a picture of the console.

OP: Be sure and let us know the selling price of your car when it's gone. I'm interested since I've dumped a LOT of cash into my car to make it look as good or better than new.

Wow that is indeed a high asking price. But when it comes to Porsche there is always a first time buyer who falls in love with the first car that catches his eye. So no reason not to go high first, especially if Boxsters are hard to come by in your area and most your buyers will not travel or buy without kicking tires.

There are not many clean done up tiptronic cars out there. So you could be appealing to a good niche market here. Usually when I come across tiptronic cars they are barebones white or black and rarely ever do they have visual mods.
There is a butt for every seat and many will pay a premium to find just the right seat. Keep us updated.

I paid $1000 more for mine. Needed tires, brakes, and a bearing. Had 119,000.
Good luck.

Also, how long should I wait to decrease the asking price to increase interest? It's been about 2 days, no interest. Any other tips to increase interest/exposure? Never really sold a car before.

Start just above what you are willing to take. Then make the good faith gesture to that price. Or haggle and say you can keep the wheels for some money off. But they will want it as it sits.

Put it on Ebay Motors with your absolute lowest acceptable price and then add Ebay's commission on top of that. If you want a quick sale, that's the best route.

Comments on the ad
Sold several cars via Craigslist. Each within 4 hours of posting. The cars were almost stock, had records, were well cared for, had something that distinguished them and the asking price was in line with the competition. They were relatively low mileage. I could have sold 5 of each within the first day. The buyers came to my little town from 50 miles away.
The problem I see with this ad is someone put serious money into a car with 140k miles and probably only $1k of that is recoverable. Not like they had the engine rebuilt. Old engine, IMS, shocks, transmission, suspension, etc. Unimpressive tires. I don't think the false badging helps a true Porsche fan either. Makes me wonder if there is some other false advertising.
Really nice looking and good upgrades but options and upgrades don't bring anywhere near what they cost unless the car is a true collectable or are exactly what someone wants. A '99 Boxster is simply a wonderful but 16 year old car. A 140k+ miles car is not like a 60k one in terms of instant attraction.
I hate to throw cold water but, when a same year same color Boxster with ~50k less miles is the car just below yours on a local Craigslist search and it is asking several k$ less than this ad asks and it has the purist desired transmission and is in the same color, which are they going to be calling about?
Good luck, it is a beauty.
