Question Wheel Fitment Question

Hi,

Stumbled upon some OEM wheels for sale locally and looking to confirm for sure if these will fit my 98 986 for sure before pulling the trigger. Based on my search on the forum it is the correct bolt pattern, but again I know very little about this topic hence seeking some clarification.

* Wheels are off a 2000 996, Bolt pattern is 5x130

* Front Wheel 7.5x18, Tire 225 40 18

* Rear Wheel10x18, Tire 265 35 18

According to my Owners Manual, the 2001 S could be ordered with 18" wheels with the tyres you mention fitted as standard.
The only difference is the rear wheels on the 996 are 10" wide compared with 9" wide on the Boxster S, but I don't think you will have a problem fitting the wider 996 wheels.

You may want to test fit before you buy. The offset of the rear wheel is deeper than the Boxster wheel. That, along with the added width, may pose issues.

Careful. I just bought 18' turbo twist wheels off a 996 and my mechanic says the 10 inch wide rears are going to extend 1/2 inch out after the necessary spacers are installed. Only way to fit is by flaring/rolling the fenders.

Many thanks Gents. Perhaps it is best I continue looking and find a set with a 9 inch rear.

you will need a spacer for the rear wheels. the 10" wide Carrera wheels will contact the rear strut. 20-25mm spacers will do the trick if the geometry is the same as with my 987.

Very true!

10" wheel should fit inside the finder just fine using a 40mm offset setup. If this is the part number of the rear wheel 99336214004 it has a factory 65 offset, you just need a 25mm spacer and proper extended length lug bolts.

Unless you're using coil overs.

Would it matter that my S has ROW M030 suspension? Anyhow, had it fitted and it's just not working out on the rears. I'm no wheel expert so I did not argue with my mechanic.

18x8 and 18x10 Carrera lights with spacers on 2003 S

I can't see a 10mm drop in the rear from the ROW M030 causing the finder needing to be rolled.

Are you sure he is talking about the wheel or the tire? What size tire is on the wheel?

That should fit fine, even with the ROW M030. 25mm spacer and you should be good.
