Mods I like
Hello everyone, thought I would share some mods done to my 986S that I like. This may be helpful for those of you considering mods.
-PSS9 coil-over suspension (sure ROW would be great as well)
-997 short shifter - amazing difference! Standard 997 shift would be big upgrade as well.
-2nd cat delete
-underdrive pulley
-plastidipped wheels
-transmission: G-Box detent and RedLine tranmission oil: 1/2 shockproof, 1/2 gear oil
-LN IMS ceramic bearing
Mod I didn't like and removed: eBay exhaust: too much drone, didn't notice overall power gain. Back to stock and am happy.
Up next:
-plastic window developing a tear, deciding what to do about the top: sew in replacement window, new top with glass window, or hard top?
-seats: car handles so well with PSS9 I need better seats!
-GT3 delete kit and non-smoker kit on the way
-badge delete
-home made front bumper intake grills (wire mesh, plasi-dip, zip ties)
-clean throttle body
These cars are fun to work on and especially to drive!

Actually, great post. I have an almost identical car! except for the IMS, I have done the entire top list and agree, like them very much. The PSS9's, while expensive, are the single most dramatic change to the car I've made. Really transformational. Excellent mod if you do any track or AX.
I have a Borla exhaust. With stock 2nd cats, it was WAY too much drone. With the delete pipes, it is much more reasonable. Still don't love it, but better than a sewing machine sound that stock provides.
I too am doing the mesh grill mod, that is on the list! Would love to see picts of the other mods as you get them done. Next weekend I am going to tackle the 2 qt deep sump install from Mantis.
Too bad you are in NC, we'd be best friends :-)

Delirium- yeah the PSS9's are great. Nice ride with dampers set to soft, no lean when turned to hard. Only problem is I need a new seat! Live in the mountains and drive a lot of curvy roads, lots of fun but I get a workout just trying to hang on and drive at the same time - stock standard S seats need more bolster. I am weighing a bucket vs a sport seat - driving mostly very cure roads, auto cross, and some track.

I just put the black grills on my artic silver 987 and I love them. Made in England by zunnsport. Pricey, but worth it. I also have a new set for a cayman for sale if anyone is interested.

I am kicking around this idea as well, as it is mainly my AX and track car. One really has to commit to that tho, not easy to go back and forth...let me know what you come up with!!

Great mods indeed! I've made the template for my DOG grills, and will probably start cutting them out tomorrow. I've bought 2 different gutter meshes, one from Home Depot, and one from Lowes, they will be plastic-dipped black.

Fred's headlights and wind breaker
Depo tail lights
Magnetic oil drain plug and LN spin on oil filter adapter
Ebay exhaust and secondary cat delete
Mesh on the front grills
18" Sport Classic II's
iPad Mini dash install
Upgraded dash, door and rear speakers
Upgraded HU
Emergency Frunk release
So, pretty much all of them Thank you to everyone on this forum that have helped with these mods
I still have a 997 shifter sitting on the bench that needs to be installed. I am sure that will make the list once installed! I am still debating the underdrive pulley and at some point a suspension overhaul will be done. Whenever it is time for a new clutch, the LN IMS bearing will also be installed. I think that is about it......for now

Very nice Bruce! The iPad Mini Dash Install really updates the interior. Is there a DIY on that or did you have it done?

Thanks! There are two DIY's. I bought a used mini off of CL to bring the cost down and a used horseshoe from Oklahoma foreign. I wanted to keep the original horseshoe so that I can go back to stock if I ever want to. In fact, I have kept all of the stock pieces with the exception of my rims. A dremel makes quick work of modifying the horseshoe.

I can't believe I forgot to include the one touch soft top open and close by Shehadehd! I use that all the time.

The bat wings pop out and then there are two torx screws on either side holding the horseshoe in. Very simple. Popping the bat wings out is also how you remove the mini, again, quick and simple.
