Swapping automatic tranny to manual

has anyone switched out a 2.7 automatic to a manual? what are the issues you faced?

or, is anyone selling a 2.7 automatic?

Just curious - if you're asking about swapping an automatic for a manual, why would you be looking for an automatic?

I put a 2.7 engine from a manual into my 2.7 Tip. Some of the differences that you will have to deal with:
Engine harnesses are different - the Tiptronic transmission harness is bundled with the engine harness.
Cooling lines - the Tiptronic has 2 extra junctions that facilitate transmission cooling.
Vacuum hoses - I remember there was a 4 way split in a line on the Tip that was a 3 way split on the manual.
Mounts, linkages, shifter, DME, etc.

A couple years ago I converted an auto Honda Del Sol to a manual. Different car I know, but the most painful/difficult part was swapping out the pedals due to the small space to work in. All of the studs and holes to mount everything were there. Hopefully its the same with the Boxster.

Changing from auto to manual or vice-versa can be done but is quite labor intensive due to all the harness, cooling and IT differences. Someone on Renntech estimated it at about 100 hrs labor which makes it seem a bit foolish compared with just buying one already configured as desired. People have done crazier things over a long winter though. Sometimes any project is better than no project at all.
