Oil quart foil seal accidentally poured in during routine change

This. Removing the oil pan is peanuts compared to a ruined motor in both cost and effort. It's not difficult to do yourself and shouldn't be particularly expensive to pay a shop to do. From a couple of posts on this thread, it sounds like you may still find it there.

Saga is over, the game of hide and seek has come to an end....after draining / filling / draining / filling three times with the oilpan off, I had all but given up. I put the pan on, drove the car VERY cautiously for about 50 miles, drained the oil yet again, dropped the pan AGAIN and VOILA! The foil piece had finally made its way to the oilpan. Finally! The adventure is over.

This post makes me wonder how often this happens, especially at the quick oil change places where I take my other vehicles.

The oil change places I've seen use oil from a bulk drum, fed through a hose. The Motul oil I use in the Boxster has no foil either; the 5L jugs have a pull out spout like the ones you see on olive oil cans.

Yes, for the most part fed automatically, but certain brands are poured out of conventional quarts.......I'll check next time I take the Canyon in, I'm pretty sure I get the quarts as I use their Quaker State synthetic.

Wondering what condition the foil was in (e.g. chewed up or just sitting there or stuck to the pickup tube).
What did you use to seal the pan, dreibond, loctite?
Any pictures?

The foil did not appear to have been chewed up at all, as if it just flowed down to the pan on an unobstructed flow of oil. I used permeatex high temp black gasket sealant, it is working fine thus far. No pics - not much to see other than a circle of foil that drove me nuts for 3 weeks!
