If you are going to go to the expense of a total color change, do something besides a standard color. Guards Red are a dime a dozen, get out of that box, be bold, be different. IMHO

It's resale red and Ive always loved French racing blue and I really like the new Porsche color lime gold metallic, but I could never own one in either of those colors. I'd get tired of it. I like the aggressive feel of red.

Well... Basically the car was the worst boxster on the planet as far as the dings and dents... The pic attached to this thread is in the very late body work stages. The doors had to be completely covered in body filler. They were so dented up it looked like large hail damage. So, to answer your question, I figured that I'd go ahead and change the color if I had to strip every panel to metal. I bought it silver, but I never really cared for it. I feel like red really updates the look of the car to a more modern look
