Is my top covered under warranty??

Nice spring day in the Philly area and I decide to wash the car and go for a spin. 65 outside, used warm water to wash the car, dried the car, put the key in, smile on my face....first top down day since Sept, starts right up, put the windows down, unlock the top, begin to lower the top (usually lower for a few seconds and then get out and make the sure the window is folding properly) and POP the window cracks and now has about a 6" split in the clear portion of the canvas. It is an 02 and not commissioned till May so I do have about 2 months under factory warranty. This is my 2nd Boxster and this is the first time this has ever happened.

Needless to say my first top down drive was spoiled.

So, is my top covered under warranty? If not any suggestions for replacement?

Thanks for the help.

John

Sadly, I have heard a yes and no on this, depending on the dealer you ask!

Keep us posted on how you do.

Good luck!

Called dealer and they have to inspect the top (to rule out foul play) and otherwise should be covered under warranty. Should get a chance to drop the car off either thurs or fri and will post results.

Not that this should effect the plastic window - but did you wait for the top to dry before dropping it?

As an FYI my local dealer replaced the entire top with no questions asked. I had about 10 days left on my warranty. Whew...
