CA interstates are scary enough without adding street racers into the mix.

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well.
When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

Wow, CA highways must be like a scene from "The Road Warrior".
Out East everyone gripes about aggressive SUV drivers as well as the BMW and Audi crowd. I'm assuming the mix of vehicles differs when you get into the snow belt; with shifts toward snow worthy vehicles.
From what I see out East, a lot of the young tuners are setting the trends in the aftermarket and even with the OEM's. To me it is very positive. The OEM's are offering lot's of powerful front and AWD drivers now. I see a vibrant car culture now as opposed to decades past. Plenty of room for everyone.
Sounds like CA has hordes of car gangs spoiling an otherwise good thing. Maybe CHP will step up patrols if enough people complain. Out East the Staties use unmarked patrol cars. Very stealthy. Even minivans and SUV's.

Californians are a strange lot. They get more excited about harm to the snail darter than to a family of five in a car crash.
Go figure!

Definitely, the problem here in soCal is that for every 1 tastefully modified tuner car that not only looks nice and sounds okay, but has some umph as well, there are 100 rusted, mismatched, pieced-together, multicolored, hyper-lawnmower sounding '84 Accords and Sentras at every street corner.

Ain't it the truth. However, I must say that these "modified" cars, whether mechanically, or visually (more latter than former) don't bother me at all. In fact, I kind of appreciate the attention they draw to themselves. I'd rather have Police and Highway Patrol eyeballing them instead of me.
