Odometer Accuracy

Has anyone verified the accuracy of the Boxster odometers ? Reason I ask is because many, if not all, early 986's have speedometers that read about 3 mph lower than actual.

My experience with older Boxsters indicates that the speedos register 4 MPH ABOVE the actual speed (as calculated by a GPS receiver). After 100 MPH, it goes up to 5 MPH above.

Don't you mean faster than actual?
A speedo that reads slower than actual from the factory would open them up to litigation from people that got speeding tickets. Also IIRC, there is some law in Germany that they cant read slower then actual

Speedometer display =/= odometer display.

Speedometers are generally set to read a little higher than actual speed, whereas odometers are set to be as spot-on as possible.

I had it backwards: speedo reads higher than actual. Some previous posts indicate this question was addressed and tested. Odometer is accurate even though the speedo reads higher

The odometer on my 2000 is spot on. I measured a known to me mile and it was perfect. My speedometer indicates faster than my actual speed by 3 or 4 mph depending on my speed.
