Oh my god this car is simply amazing!

Well, I posted a few days ago my new car an 04 BoxsterS triple black with 7000 miles on it.

I used to have a Z4 2.5 and I was really happy with the handling, sometimes when I stay up late (like 2-3am) I always go out and return various movies or do stuff I would be bored to do the following day.

Especially when it rains the roads are literally dead. This is where the fun begins. I took the DSC off from the Z4 and I would slide in various nice curves. The car was a bit oversteery sometimes and a lot of times I would overcorrect. Now, I know this is also my fault but it simply felt it was getting out of control (duh).

Today, I did the same with the BoxsterS and wow! What a difference in handling in the rain!!! The car responded IMMEDIATELY. Please keep in mind my BoxsterS does not have PSM at all installed which I actually prefer. Sometimes electronic systems can cause the accidents by not letting you correct your car. I mean, I was shocked to how smooth it came back and having the 6-speed manual and power I was back on the road...again wow!

I simply fell in love with it and I just had to say it!

p.s Its been raining here so I havent washed it yet but what drying towels to use? I always used to suck at drying my car and white spots would remain afterwards, I dont want that on my BoxsterS.

Just use plain old dry towels and never dry it in direct sun light!!

Consumer Reports did a shootout on the Boxster, BMW Z3, Merc CLK and a few others a year or two ago and made this statement about the Boxster.

It stopped much shorter in the rain that all the other cars did in the dry!

Perfectlap's ritual for maintaining black car:

1. buy sea sponges to wash the car with. Ditch the wash mits. They suck in the dirt and debris and reduce micro marring.

2. Optimum No-Rinse for to lubricate your bucket of soapy clean water. (no I'm not kidding the ONR will encapsulate dirt and let it sink to the bottom, leaving the clean water at the top of the bucket. It will also lubricate the soapy water itself to slide the dirt off your paint.

3. Grid guards for your buckets.

4. Spray Finish Kare 425 onto a waffle weave drying towel and directly onto the the wet surface. Make downwards passes to slide the water off the surface. Turn the towel and remove the rest of the water. Use the 425 on you windows as well to prevent scratching.

5. Clay bar before applying waxes or polishes. No Rinse make a great Clay lube.

6.Avoid rubbing on dry paint at all costs. Always lubricate, if adding Carnauba like S100 get a Sonus Carnauba spritz and lubricate both pad and towel--nothing should be dry: pad, towel and surface should be damp. If adding Synthetics like Poor Boys FX with 'nuba, Klasse SG, Finish Kare FX 100, get some Sonus Acrylic Spritz and also lubricate the surface before applying.
As for towels I would avoid using MF towels with the prickly ends (as commonly found at auto stores) completely. Sonus makes the Der Wunder polising and buffing towels that has the closed nap. MF is for cleaning. Great for removing brake dust from wheels but not my choice for plack paint.

7-Get a couple of dedicated buffing towels for final touches, unlike the polishing towels where you want to keep the strokes to a minimum and move doward with firmer pushes, with the Buffing towel you want speed and no weight. No buffing with polishing towels. Those have more bite than buffing towels. In the long run it will show on your paint.

p.s.
Finish Kare 425 will be the last product that touches my car every time. The slippery qualities of this product lets dust blow off at speed and while parked on windy days. It works exceptionally well over all types of polishes/sealants and waxes. Its like adding non-stick teflon to to your Boxster.

Perfectlap, wow. These are some advanced cleaning advices, unfortunately being from another country (Greece), but I live in USA currently - I cant understand half of the stuff mentioned there nor would I Know where to find them!

Being 21 years old and my first black car I am a newbie... :|

Careful Porsche paint is softer than U.S. paint. And its also not legal for sale in America. That means if you need to have your car repainted they won't be using the same type of paint.
The 'Perfectlap system' is not hard just takes a little more effort and some $$$. you would be amazed how quickly black paint can start to swirl. I had my old car's hood painted and within a few car washes the swirls had made a forced occupation. Those swirls aren't permanent but you'll need to buy an electric Polisher like the Porter Cable 7424 or go to a high end detailer familiar with these methods to really eliminate them. Why bother going to all that trouble when a few techniques will keep your paint looking factory fresh.
