A/C Not working

AC does not blow cold air. Everything seems to be working, but no cold air. Durametric says fault code 35 (communications with instrument cluster). Has anybody seen this or have a clue?

If you remove the plastic over the battery, there's the AC connections as well, located to the left of the battery. Take a screwdriver or something similar, and press down on one of the connection holes (only for a part of a second). If it's preassure in the system, it's not a leak. There might be a broken AC compressor tho, if it's pressure in the system that is.

You have a communications link failure between the cluster and the rest of the system; depending upon the year, of the car it could be over the CAN bus. Basically, the AC system is not getting instructions from the control panel.

Do not ever do this. The Schrader valves can easily be damaged and would then vent off all of the system gas, plus there can still be some pressure in the system even when it is low on gas, but too low to trigger the low pressure sensor in the system and allow it to turn on.

If you don't know what you are doing, or have the correct equipment to service the AC system in these cars, take it to someone that does.....

Did you check the fuses?

If the AC is blowing hot air, sometimes it's the fuses.

JFP, what codes would a durametric throw if its just a fuse? And would it even throw a code if its out of freon?

Neither a fuse or low gas will cause a code.

I'm replacing the compressor, receiver dryer, and expansion valve as I write this. I'm currently holding the system at vacuum. I'll be doing a write up when I'm finished. If I were you I'd go with an inexpensive R134 refill kit from the auto parts store under the theory it's a slow leak, and yes, the purists are wringing their hands. I've nursed along old AC systems this way over several seasons. You have a miniscule chance this will work. If it does, expect a seasonal ritual. The low and high pressure ports are under the right hand cover next to the battery. If you've never done AC work, it's best to have it done by a professional as AC takes special tools, and does not forgive mistakes. The refill kit is made for folks who have not worked on AC systems so provided you follow the directions, it could work.

Well here is a little info on my air condition problem. I have a leak from the intake ac hose. Hose that goes to the compressor down to the bottom of the car. Has anyone had or heard of such a problem? Isn't that usually a quick o ring fix?

If you've taken it apart the O rings are suspect. If they have remained installed, I'd suspect the hose. Folks are parting out cars and that might be a good part to get.

Here is another update. Took it to a shop. Its really starting to heat up. Wish I knew what I know now. Replaced both hoses after it apeared not to be a o ring. Here is a couple of shots of the hoses. One appears to be melted? uld this be my leak? While under the car, didnt look like it was coming from there but more so right above the connection.

Is it possible that this hose was touching some part of the engine? It seems very close looking under the car.
