You can order a new Sachs clutch kit (includes the release bearing) for under $600 with taxes... just buy the parts and tell him to put them in... labor should be free as he has to put the old clutch back in anyways... Personally I would never put it back together without doing the clutch and the release bearing... If he has to do it in 2years down the road you'll pay for all the labor to take the tranny out and in again...
