Any of you guys want to put a group buy together? All jokes aside. This is a great oppurtunity for a 911 engine upgrade. What is the install cost roughly?

This is absolutely a clue that factory reman engines will not be available much longer. That said, paying $14k for a factory reman engine to stuff into a Boxster is something I wouldn't even consider. These motors are in no way better than what came in the car in the first place, and we all know how well many of those held up.

I agree. Such princely sums (relative to the cost of a used 996/986) seems better spent buying a Raby Engine.

I was thinking the same thing, if it wasn't for the "if it ain't broke" ideal, I would be seriously eyeballing this deal.

I am sure the M96 engines have been sitting around for years. The IMSB seals after sitting in break in oil for the last decade have turned hard and shrunk back and ripe for a failure.

I thought they kept in them in big industrial sized jars.

Looks like someone learned a lot in my WTI M96 Engine Mechanical Class.

Impressive.
