1st car: 1970 Mustang Mach 1

1st car I wanted: 1970 Mustang Mach 1

Bought in Sep 75 for $950. It had been hit in the rear and my dad and I worked all fall and winter repairing it. Got it done just in time for Prom. I was a Jr then and had one of the coolest cars in my class. But it was a 351-2bl - no big blocks or 4bls allowed by dad.

Wanna feel old? That chick in Particlewave's Camaro pick is now 65.

The chick, the car, or both?

Oh yeah, I always thought those Opel GTs were cool too.

I "inherited" a 1963 Mercury Meteor from my grandfather. This isn't mine, but it looked just like it:

Then I bought a 1980 beige Toyota Tercel. It had a 5 speed and handled reasonably well, but it was slow. Again, this isn't mine.

What I really wanted - 1959 Porsche Convertible D.

It was actually British Racing Green and it wasn't as nice as the one in the photo. Of course the seller was only asking $1800 for it. My Dad told me I couldn't park it in the yard while I restored it, so I had to pass. He also told me that I wouldn't have gone to college if I bought it. I tell him the car would be worth $150,000 today.

My first car - 1961 Austin A40 - 948cc producing 48 pure British horsepower!

What I wanted - Lola T340 - Ford 1600cc producing 120HP.

I would have settled for this driver - 1973 Lotus Europa.

In the final analysis, they're all just cars. Wonderful cars, but cars nonetheless.

What I really wanted was a Volks Wagon Rabbit custimoized!!! If your in Cali, you know what I'm talking about. Went to sleep dreaming about this car and what I wanted to do to it. Back in high school this was about 18Gs I think.

What I got was a brand new Isuzu Pick up with no radio! I later fixed that with two 12inch Punch woofers and some 15inch wheels all around. Still can't hear good to this day and I think that is the culprit. Now you can laugh.

What I got:

I got a used 1978 Toyota Celica, red. Years later I got a red 1990 Celica, new, both were awesome.

I Really wanted (and never did get for some reason ) a '65 Mustang. Red, obviously.

Who knows, I might still get one, one day . . . but it's going to need to be a convertible, unlike the pic.
