Do you add oil between oil changes?
Is it normal to do so for Boxsters? If so - how much, how often? What level do you keep at it on the digital gauge? How many total miles on your car?

I keep it one bar under max on the digital gauge when I measure it in my garage. This is just about topped off on the dipstick. I use the dipstick as the final authority for measuring the oil level. I have about 76K on the clock. I have not had to add oil once it is at the established level.
After an oil change, I slowly - very slowly - add oil until the dipstick measures just under full and the digital gauge is one bar under. This usually entails a brief drive to and set period to make sure the oil is everywhere it needs to be, then has had sufficient time to settle in the pan. I do it this way based on the concept that too much oil is bad for the engine so try to stay a little on the low side. If I were to put it on the track, I'd make sure it was 100% full.

I'm due for an oil change (around 5,500 miles) and I'm down a few bars but have not added.

106K miles on the engine. I've added one quart one time about 45K miles ago. Other than that one instance, I've never added oil.

165,000 on the engine. Oil changes every 5000 miles, and the car is primarily an autocross car, but it is driven to/from events. Never needs additional oil between oil changes.

This surprised me as I Have just about 5500 miles on my oil and when I checked it was at the same mark as when I had it changed in early April. It was also much cleaner than I expected. I plan on getting it changed as soon as I get back to my Massachusetts around labor day.

No. 27K on my 2000 S. Change oil 1x/yr. On the digital gauge it shows as full if the car has been sitting for 8+ hours. After I've just shut the engine off, it reads one or two bars less than full.

Boxster typically leak oil...
My car dripped from the RMS (dripped is too strong of a word - "weeped") from the day I got it until the day I sold it. I planned to fix it when I did a clutch, but I never had to do the clutch. It never got worse.
I continually (constant over a long period of time with intervals in between) had to add oil between changes, but only small amounts. Maybe a quarter or half of a quart between changes.
I kept some kitty litter around on the garage floor though. I don't believe the engine burned oil, I think it was the weeping. I put "RMS leak" into my signature block about 6 years ago as a joke and never changed it...
Bought 2006 @ 11K miles. Sold 2013 @ 72K miles. 10K miles per year as reliable and inexpensive daily driver.

For the first couple years after I bought it (2006) I used to check it from time to time, using the dipstick. (I'd look at the digital gauge now and then, out of curiosity...but I mostly relied on the dipstick.) It was never ever lower than it had been the previous time I checked it, so I honestly don't check it all that often anymore. Although if I get underneath the car I can see the slightest hint of oil that I'm pretty sure is attributable to the RMS, I've never seen so much as a single drop of oil in the garage under this car.
Oil and filter changes at least annually, no more than 4-5k miles between changes.
69k miles on the odometer.

63,000 miles, oil changes every 5000 miles and I have never had to add oil and have never had it drop between changes. And no, Boxsters do not (or at least, should not) typically drip or leak oil.

I echo Fatmike's experience. PPI on my 2001 Box said rms was weeping. Have done nothing about it since owning it two years. I have oil level about one bar under the full mark. No major amounts of oil on garage floor after replacing the leaky Ims Guardian pigtail drain plug. About 45k miles. Change oil every 5k miles.

Change oil ever year, or about every 6,500 miles.
Never needs oil between changes.

42k mi. Change once a year. In 5 years I've never had to add oil. I ignore the digital display and rely mostly on the dipstick. Car is '00S with no leaks and it sits for long periods of time. It's in a semi climate-controlled garage, so that may have a lot to do with it???

I never change the oil. Just add whenever it gets low
OK, that's not true.
Getting near 50,000 miles and have never had to add oil. I get regular changes and all is well.

No, I have not had to ,ever. I believe the dipstick vs the digital. 83,500, I change every 5K as cheap insurance even though I have the ceramic IMS bearing installed.

I keep mine around two bars below maximum on the digital gauge. Never fill to maximum (or higher) as this is a contributing factor to AOS failure. I have never had to add oil, car is serviced once a year (never do more than 5k miles).

I'd say, if your Box needs oil topped off between oilchanges (2 yrs / 12500 miles), the motor is not 100% tight.. sure, some vapours - but so little that it should not need to ba topped off at all.

Yeah - seems that way. It's not leaking on the ground so some internal seals must be shot? Not sure how much I've put in, haven't kept track. I'm running a thicker 15w50 oil too.
