I'd say, if your Box needs oil topped off between oilchanges (2 yrs / 12500 miles), the motor is not 100% tight.. sure, some vapours - but so little that it should not need to ba topped off at all.

Yeah - seems that way. It's not leaking on the ground so some internal seals must be shot? Not sure how much I've put in, haven't kept track. I'm running a thicker 15w50 oil too.

I have ~107,000 miles on my 2000 Boxster S, I bought it about 4,700 miles ago. it had an oil change as part of the LN IMS bearing at that time and I haven't had to add any. It currently has Mobile One 0W40, I am getting ready to do my first oil change at 5,000 with Castrol Edge with Syntec 5W40 (or whatever the new name of the formula is)
