Transmission Problem.

My 1998 Porsche Boxster 986 has lost a tooth on 2nd gear does anyone know the name of the part I'm going to have to replace?

Thanks.

Hi More,

What are your symptoms? Are you sure you lost a tooth, and how do you know it is not a another problem?

The symptoms only happen in 2nd gear.
It's a loud clicking sound and it gets louder the faster you go.

More, have you checked underneath the car for anything out of the ordinary, such as transmission shift cables coming loose from the brackets?

I can't see any loose cables.

I took it to a mechanic today he said it could be the 1st/2nd gear Drive Shaft.

Price of a Drive Shaft - $1500
Price of a new Porsche Dog Teeth 2nd Gear - $140

BIG Bloody Difference!
