new member!
As a new member, i just wanted to take a second to introduce myself. My name is Sam and I bought my first boxster in the spring of last year. I own a shop that builds primarily boosted Japanese tuners so I'd like to believe I know a thing or two about cars though I certainly learn new things on an almost daily basis. Anyway, the boxster is a base 2.5, '99 that's wearing 18's and decently meaty hankooks. I'm currently in the process of installing an Aasco aluminum flywheel, Spec stage II clutch, IMS bearing, CAI intake, plugs, underdrive pulley, new idler pulleys, rear speakers, etc to get it ready for this spring. I have a few other items I'd like to try (AOS delete) as a future project but am just focusing on finishing up what I have in progress right now.
I'm currently living in Idaho Falls and doing nuclear engineering type stuff for the DOE in my spare time (aka, when I'm not in the shop with the cars). I've been lurking here since last year but thought I should take the time to make it official and say Hi.

Also, the intake was completely coated in oil - as in dripping. Got it all cleaned out and ready to reinstall with a CAI. I'm going to hold off on doing anything to the AOS right now because the car doesn't smoke but oil is def getting past it. Next project is designing something that just eliminates the whole problematic system. Going to go ahead and replace the plugs while I'm in there though because all that oil almost guarantees they're fouled.

Welcome to the party Sam. Some great Porsche roads in your neighborhood once things warm up a bit. The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone would make a nice weekend escape. I might put Beartooth Hwy MT on the short list for summer. Breathtaking vistas comparable to Northern Italy!

Great looking car!
My clutch is next. Buying a lift for my shop first!

A lift would be so awesome. Even a little mini lift would be cool. Actually pretty affordable too, it just seems like there's always something more pressing that needs bought. haha

Welcome, great looking car! I'm jealous of your pics from last summer, great places to drive a Boxster!

Thanks guys. I've been spending a lot of time looking at what everyone else has done and there are some awesome cars on here!
UPS dropped this bad boy off this morning so it's about time to start putting it back together.
I've now got the IMS bearing and tool, just waiting for the clutch and clutch fork to show up.

Not horrible but way too much man-made stuff for my taste. Thanks global warming, you ruin everything....
Just kidding - as far as I'm concerned, the equator could burn to a scorched crisp as long as it stays sunny and 70 in Idaho!

Welcome. Great looking car. Assuming your working at the National lab. We hope you don't get 'sequestered' into becoming a full time Boxster tinkerer.
