Next week I'm installing a Clarion navi that retracts into the same space as a typical deck, and having the climate controls moved to the second position up. I forget what amp. I can't wait to ditch CDs and get my phone linked with BT.

I have a Pioneer 940BT in my 2003 Boxster which I can definitely recommend. I have the head unit running the dash and rear speakers and an Alpine 2 channel amp (sitting where the Porsche one used to be) running the 2 subs in the doors. The Porsche subs are surprisingly good with the Alpine, I would definitely get rear speakers first if you dont have any.

What the heck is that displayed on your screen? What program/package do you have that displays ACTUAL ODB info on your Nav Screen?

What is the app for that?

Also, the you are right about the rear speakers. It is the only way to get accurate sound replication. Still needs a sub IMHO.

Thanks in advance.

Its called Dashcommand, one of the Pioneer supported Appradio apps with the iphone. Connects via a wifi OBD transmitter - they cost $30 off ebay. Loads of different screens, dials, themes etc. If you forward to half way on this Pioneer video, you can see it in action:

I have the Porsche subs in the doors so rear speakers were a must for me.

What are you using to mount the phone? Nice installation. I have been intrigued by the Pioneer but the reviews are not always glowing so I have been hesitant to pull the trigger. Kind of waiting for maybe another generation.

Its a Brodit mount, they do a custom mount for most vehicles. Fit's between the trim so no damage:

Brodit Proclip | UK | DSLDevelopments

I bought the Porsche trim phone mount in the same blue on ebay. My Brodit iphone mount is a perfect fit so selling the trim mount. Came with the phone handset - anyone still using these?

Does the phone's music files and SiriusXM pair to the head unit via the BT?

would be nice to eliminate the aux out cord.

p.s.
I have seen Mini Ipad insalls in the 996 headunits recenly. Someone sells a kit apparently.

We dont seem to have satellite radio over here. Certainly you can stream music via bluetooth although I have a 16gb micro SD card which I normally use. You have to use the phone using some apps (connection mainly) so better for me to have the phone there.

I have been running dashcommand as I just recently purchased a Pioneer Appradio unit for the winter bruiser and I love it. It has been a huge help with monitoring fuel consumption and gives you so much information (much like obdII reader) but gives you the information in a clear understandable gauge format. I would highly recommend it and can't wait to get the Porsche out of the garage and hook this up to it. The best part is you don't need an appradio unit to view dashcommand you just need your phone. If anyone wants more info on it and it's capabilities you can check out their website or PM me. I am not affiliated with them in anyway I just love the product.

**Didn't mean to hijack the thread with Dashcommand/Appradio talk

Mines wifi, better bandwidth than bluetooth plus doesn't affect phone calls. Dont have to use it just on the porsche, will plug into any car. You can also read faults and clear as with other code readers.

Sorry seem to be talking about Dashcommand and OBD readers on your thread.
