Because I was a 1000 miles away from the nearest petrol station.

Not a popular choice but I'll admit I run mine in the red +20-30 miles FREQUENTLY. Not by choice. It is only because there are not always gas stations in rural areas. I go where the houses are….and sometimes being there on-time as-promised takes precedence. You don't want to blow a few thousand because you stopped for gas…unless you ARE TRULY short on brains, or rich!

I have suffered no ill effects, thus far. I do understand the risks. And there are a few times where I DID GET a SLIGHT HESITATION or miss. Most likely due to crap in the gas. That may be what the original poster was commenting about. I clean my TB frequently, so it must be the gas.

That said, you can say, "I told you so" when I burn up my fuel pump. Until then, thanks for the warning but life supersedes the fuel need sometimes.

Don't live in fear my friends, that is no way to be either!

Wow. And how exactly was that helpful?

Sorry about that, More. Fortunately, rude and uncalled-for remarks like this are rare here and most people are understanding, sympathetic, and helpful. We've all learned lessons about our cars the hard way. Don't let this put you off posting again.

I will make the suggestion that you do a search before posting to make sure you're not asking a question that has already been repeatedly answered, otherwise you may deserve the flaming you get in reply.
