Only allowed if you're going to buy another P-car.

I'm glad you will buy my bumper, but it is part of my car. I don't use it at all. I have 3 year old and the car sits in the garage. I have had it over 8 years and have put about 25k on it. I may be looking to getting something with a rear seat and turbos. Unfortunately it is not probably worth selling as the market for the poor mans porsche is **************** and you know you don't get money back for upgrades. I have a lot into it and probably won't recoup half of it plus the price of the car. :ah:

Get a 911, both our kids were toted around in that placebo back seat.

But don't worry, you'll be back to Porsche sooner or later. I think I already covered this in another post;

The Porsche life cycle is like this:

Buy used Porsche, feel smug that you didn't pay for all that depreciation.
Drive and enjoy Porsche for a few years, love it.
Fix something for a breath-taking pile of cash.
Drive some more, not so fast this time.
Fix something else. Scratch head at cost.
Get stuck somewhere. Fix it, used to the cost by now.
Drive some more, but not very often.
Fix something else, hardly ever drive it now.
Realize you're not driving it very much, then sell it.
Feel better for about six months.
Start to regret it.
Spend years regretting it, since you are now fixing whatever you bought to replace it.
Start eyeing Porsches.
Find a great deal, buy another one.
Rinse, repeat.
Love every minute of it.

As stated above, I dd'd my 911 with 2 cars seats. At age 3 (and 30 lbs, IIRC) you can get the Recaro child seat which fits really nicely. I removed the seatbacks for a little extra room. Also used the Britax (forget which model), although I removed the base for it to fit better. I'd still daily that car, but we moved to higher elevation and have been getting hit with snow.

Jaay, what you've got is a very nice car. It's certainly a keeper-and considering the time and money you put in it, it would almost feel like a part of the family. Keep in mind you did swap the engine, which is certainly rare and unique. Whatever you do decide matters when you are happy.

Yes, my Boxster is our 4th Porsche, hubby has the 3rd one, a Carrera Cabriolet.

The one we regret selling the most? A 1988 Carrera Cabriolet WIDEBODY. Only a couple of hundred made, beautiful car.

Thanks for all the responses. The truth is if I sell it I am not allowed to buy another car. Yes, not allowed (my wife is my voice of reason). If I were to buy anything else she would be less than happy. I believe I am stuck with my box until I hit the lottery. As for a 911.... The 986 is the best P-car I have driven as far as feeling like it is an extension of me. I really would just like to take my car out with my daughter (not for a speed run or to drive dumb) also would be great to have my wife be able to drive (she doesn't drive manual). This is all me just voicing what is going through my head right now. I am stuck with the car and like you said it is part of the family. As for parting it out and putting it back to stock, THAT AIN"T GONNA HAPPEN! Besides I own nothing of the stock parts any more except for a stock 2.5 muffler that anyone can have if they need.

JAAY, I always thought your Boxster was one of the most beautiful cars on this forum, but since you can't get another car due to Wifey, why sell the box in the first place? It's a great car, just keep it (although the GTR would've been an awesome buy)

I went through the same Thought process. I have two little ones a 2.5 year old and an 11 month old. I was thinking of getting a 335 as I was looking for a sporty car with rear seats. I already have an suv a 12 Touareg Lux, but wanted a car I could take everyone in for a drive up the palisades on a nice day rather than go by myself in my boxster. After looking around I just decided to stick with my boxster as my kids will love its convertible top in a few years and you really can't get a better ride for the money. Plus i Am attached to the car as i bought it new out of college.

BTW do you still have that spare bumper?

If she doesn't let you buy one, then keep it.
Otherwise get a 997 (that's what I did) my two girls love that both of them can now ride with daddy :-)

Seems like you could just use it for your daily commuter car, where you don't need to bring your family along. When you get back home, you switch to a sedan or SUV to cart your family around. If you like the car that much, it makes more sense to do that.

How much are you asking for it? How many miles on it?
