Interesting perspectives. Thanks guys.

to answer a few questions:

- no I didn't do the model designation delete since I bought off the lot. When I get a free weekend I'll be doing it myself, though

- honda vs porsche -- indeed you are right. But I would be asking the same if I owned a honda.. but.. I don't

- if, indeed, the Cayenne is no better (if not worse) than the Tuareg (sp?) for 10K more then I wouldn't look in wonder at someone who bought one.. I'd laugh at them. But that's just me. That said, I'm sure there's *something* value added to the Cayenne, isn't there? I don't know myself.. I've never driven one.

In all seriousness (I'd never laugh at anyone for driving something they love.. pinto or porsche) I guess my thing is that I've never been a car "fan". I've got no different feeling to Porsche than Honda or Lexus. I just *love* this car -- they hit one out of the park as far as I'm concerned. None of the other cars I test-drove or have seen come close (either I don't like the styling or the feel or something). If this exact car had been made by Chrysler I still would've bought it.

I can appreciate where you guys are coming from, though. There are *certain* brands I will put up with.. everyone's got their thing.

Yeah, i'm not running the dealer's license plate frames either, and I could do without the porsche crest on the hood--I think it makes it look like the car has a nose or something...

I’m with you guys when it comes to jettisoning the dealer license plate frame or decal. Shoot! He’s not paying me to advertise and this ain’t no stinkin’ taxi cab so he gets no space on my car.

As for P logos, I do like the colored wheel center crests. In my view, they certainly stand out nicely on the Carerra S wheel. That is why I bought them.

So too, the gold crest on the hood is elegant and eloquently announces the arrival of a special car. It speaks of racing heritage and tradition, and is the envy of many. I think the hood would be naked without it.

Regarding the script on the trunk, I will admit I’ve had to learn to like it. More importantly though, when I see any car without all of the manufacturer’s markings I become suspicious of that vehicle as having been involved in an accident and the body shop was too sloppy to finish the car properly. Maybe Yogi would put it like this, - If I were buying, I wouldn’t be.

In the end, I want there to be no mistake that a Boxster S just went by. Perhaps it is simply pride of ownership. Whatever it is, for me, keep the Porsche’s logos on the car. Besides, the extra weight of the script on the trunk keeps the rear planted at high speed!

Well, that’s how I see it from my knothole.
