Rattling in rear in reverse and 1st gear-what is it?

Hi folks,

we just bought our first Porsche, an '02 S last week. It had just come off lease with 27k miles. The only issue we noticed was a rattle in the rear when moving from a dead stop in 1st or reverse. giving additional throttle eliminates the sound, and it only occurs after the car has warmed up. Does not happen when it's cold.

I just thought it was a heatsheild and didn't worry about it as I'm going to get an aftermarket exhaust so this car will make some NOISE!

My dealer certified the car for the Porsche 6/100k warranty, but I can't understand how they certified it with that noise. It stops once you pull away in 1st gear, and otherwise the car drives and handles like a dream.

I am taking it back to them next week to get it taken care of, but I'm just wondering has anyone else had this before, and what is it?

thanks!

Maybe you have Jimmy Hoffa in the trunk!

no that would be a "rolling around in the trunk" sound-as in head rolling around
