engine and radiator cooling fans

anyone know what controls when the engine cooling fan comes on and off. I am assuming the radiator fans are controled by engine temp thru a relay. wonder if the engine cooling fan works similarly.

The cooling fans are controlled by the DME software; the settings cannot be changed.

Does the engine fan come on when you first start driving the car I swear mine runs for a minute or two when I first drive away from my house when it's cold?

Are you sure you are not hearing the secondary air system, which runs for a short time at startup?
