Changed the rubber bushings on the roof pivot mounts (on the roof transmissions), changed the air filter, and changed the wiper blades. The roof should stop rattling now, I hope. :o

Jager 01-20-2013 02:36 PM

My wife and I took the Jägermobile for a drive north about 35 minutes to Morro Bay and had lunch outside on the Boardwalk/Docks. It’s a beautiful 73 degrees here today, it is January right??

Kayakers and paddle boarders in the distance.

really nice topless drive around town today (62 F) with a nice outdoor lunch to boot ...glorious day after several cloudy/rainy ones...

Ckrikos 01-20-2013 06:10 PM

I did the bypass to my avic 940bt. Now looking for a used 16gb iPod to fill up and set permanently in the car.

Deserion 01-20-2013 09:21 PM

Went on a PCA drive & dine with a nice selection of Porsches, including a 912, a 930, a 951, a 968, 986s, 987s, a 991, a 993, 996s, and 997s. Someone showed up in a cognac 981... stunning.

Washed, installed new Lloyd floor mats and changed the ashtray with the ashtray delete kit. All in all a good day. After seeing REM503s post I know what I'm doing next week.

teleski 01-21-2013 10:50 AM

Top down drive up PCH to Malibu (my daily commute).

In the past week : replaced hood and trunk shocks, hand wash and wheel detail (sport design; good workout for the hands and soul), alignment, new tires.

Life is grand.

BoxsterSteve 01-21-2013 02:52 PM

I'm too bloody cheap

to buy a Motive bleeder, so I gravity bled the brakes.
Sure it took a good while, but Udo's in hibernation, so there's really no rush.
The Super Blue fluid was really easy to spot, as it had the gold stuff in the system.

Clutch is next. Need to find a stick of lumber long enough to depress clutch pedal and I'm on it.

Trans fluid & GBox detent are on deck...

I use a golf club :). Oh and you'll need monkey arms to bleed the clutch.

Skeefy 01-21-2013 07:06 PM

After driving to Northern California and back to Seattle this Fall, I noticed a loud noise coming from the right rear wheel bearing. I bought new wheel bearings and ROWM030 suspension from Suncoast. This weekend, I installed new rear wheel bearings, springs, and shocks. I have a few weeks to do the front suspension before Spring arrives. Can't wait for Spring.

What does the ashtray delete kit look like when done?

Here's what I did with my Boxster today: I sighed at it's covered form this morning after spraying silicon lube on the garage door opener screw so it would close at -7F. Then I day-dreamt about driving it in warmer weather as eked above zero in the afternoon.

I know fellow owners in Canada, the upper Midwest and the Northeast are suffering the same or worse. Even Johnny Danger's legendary Speed Yellow can't help us in these conditions.

I know how you feel. Same temps in MN. I look at the covered Boxster every day in the garage, and I can't wait for the next 8-10 weeks to pass so the snow and salt are off the roads!

I pass the time by sitting in the car, turning the steering wheel sharply and making screeching sounds.

Yeah, I know I need a real hobby, or I gotta up my meds... or both.

FYI it's legal to consume adult beverages while you do this!! I've gotten pretty good at ringing the trashcan with empty bottles without undoing my seatbelt!

Sunny afternoon

So I drove along the Mediterranean coast, in the South of France, with no aim but to enjoy the curves between sea and mountain. A Boxster dream for sure.

Drove to work this morning on the Salt Plains of NJ's 295. 13 degrees in the AM. The Boxster was a little stiff but she warmed up well. We're both a little stiff moving around when it's that cold. 19 degrees on the way home, I almost put the top down

I also drove it to work this morning.
However, on the way back home, I had to put the top back up.
It was 71 this evening. Too cold for me :D

Edit: I'm usually a nice guy, but this time couldn't resist.

You certainly are the brave one. While I know I could drive mine through the Winter, I don't want to subject it to the snow and salt (especially as it's my first Porsche and hasn't been outside of CA until now). My 185K-mile '99 Acura CL with a slipping clutch is keeping Boxster from the harsh elements.

Up heah in Maine it is damn cold, but I have a little clock in my head that keeps track of how long it's been since I've driven the Box. Today, the alarm went off so I had to take it out and "run" some "errands". It's so cold the roads are nice and dry (read frozen solid).

Anyway, the oil's been heated up and circulated, the tires and brakes spun, and the battery has gotten a charge, so she's back to sleep for another few weeks.

These are 987 Fabspeeds. I'm looking for a engine to rebuild next. ;)

jrcui 01-25-2013 04:51 PM

Tinted my windows

I like the white/dark look. I had my windows tinted today to get ready for the warmer weather...haha I put on my new wheels last weekend after getting them back from the painter.

How long was that course? We do a mile course, everyone's happy below 80 sec.
