I went to Black Forest Racing shop in Denver NC.We had a great tech session and my car was put on their lift for an oil change.Opened the oil filter and found NOTHING.No sign of IMS problems.I also changed the air filter and cabin filter. There was several models of Porsche there doing various maintenance. It was interesting looking at all the Porsche race cars . john Forbes has a great collection of 914's there.John is a 40 year Porsche technician specializing in air cooled and his son is an expert on water cooled. Can hardly wait for the next tech session there. My hat goes off to John for opening his shop and all his crew for their assistance. If you ever get to Denver NC it is a must to visit Black Forest Racing. They also furnished lunch for us.Not a bad days work for free labor.

Ok, one more.

Ordered some roll bar overlays from Moe. Brushed alum on my triple black.

replaced the drive belt as part of my 60k service
Easy and fast DIY
The old belt while still in 1 piece, showed some signs of cracking. Good thing I changed it

My side markers never sat well with me. The amber bulbs were never very bright to begin with, but also quickly darkened even more.
On top of that, they were starting to discolor the side markers themselves.

So, I made these with some flexible LED tubing. They are very bright and I really like they way they follow the line of the bumper. They will also compliment my CCFL DRL's nicely since they will both be a straight line that follows the bumper line.

I tried a few different configurations, but liked the single line up top the best.
It looks really nice at night. ;)

PW those side markers are really slick! Could this be done with the center high brake light to extend it to the full width of the plastic lens assembly?

Took my 99 Boxter on a high rev drive through Forbes State Forest, in Penna. My first fun run in it since I bought it. Letting her educate me...

While some are still installing "halogen" bulbs (Chuck, you reading this?), I took the little roadster for a joy ride this Sunday afternoon!

Its 45 under the sun here (113F?) and I was wondering if the rag top + hard roof + a sheetmetal panel would be sufficient to prevent driver's head from overheating while driving. Especially for those med/long distance joy rides. Mind you being 6" tall doesn't help during those days :/ Hate it, and thanks for listening

great thread!

Not sure, really. I think I've only had my third brake light apart once, and it was years ago, so I don't really remember what things look like back there.

The main thing to consider is that the stock lens is probably diffused, which would not work really well with LED lighting. You could probably make it work okay, but not ideal.
Really, you'd want a clear or red non-diffused lens.

Finally dropped the front bumper cover to clean the radiators (passenger side was full of crap, 3 times as much as the other side)
Also re-routed the emergency trunk release cable.

Now, if only I could figure out where the last 2 screws I have in hand come from ...

Added Sport Pedals! I really thought that this was going to be a simple job but it turned out to be a real PITA. In the end....it was time well spent. A very nice compliment to my new coco mats!

Applied REJEX to my wheels a few days ago and when they had some brake dust on them today, hosed them off

Damn if the brake dust came right off!. Great stuff
Just hose it off, no scrubbing needed

I'm not really sure where to put this, so I'm just going to drop it here. I thought it was funny...

Anyone we know? :D

Edit: Apparently, it was Ronald's and this dude stole it ;)

Davev 07-25-2014 11:36 AM

Changed out the amber lenses and added the silver bulb
