Replaced the front wheel bearing on the passenger side, it was making a little noise (had 253k miles on it). I will probably do the other side next week.

Replaced the driver's side radiator, took about 5 hours.
Can't believe how stupid the supports on these things are. The middle 'pin' on the radiator is sitting in a fixed support rigidly connected to the frame. The bottom of the radiator is supported by a pretty flimsy sub-frame that is bolted to the main frame. It's very simple, you hit something with the bottom of the bumper cover and all force is transmitted to the radiator. The main point of failure is that middle 'pin' which is plastic and part of the plastic manifold on the radiator.
This all could have been avoided by supporting the radiator from the top and leave a bit of clearance at the bottom. Ah well, I'll try to avoid dropping off curbs in the future.

Maverick Region Cars and Cattle! We did a Poker run and then had a great BBQ lunch. It drizzled a bit during the run and we had to share the road with a bike race of some sort but everyone had a great time and my wife came in second with her poker hand! She won some wheel and windshield cleaner!

Those look amazingly good! Your car looks almost black in that pic

BruceH 10-23-2013 08:52 AM

Thanks. The sun was getting low in the sky so it looks dark.

Picked up my car from the dealer, after a year long battle with idle issues. Turns out there was carbon build up on the idle control valve, and no one though to check it (because no dealer on the West Coast had ever encountered this problem before). I also enjoyed the tiny issue of the instrument cluster telling me my car had 999,999km or 599,999 miles on it when the instrument cluster acted up. Solved by a battery disconnect.

Fun day, so happy to have my Boxster back, although I am now dealing with a bad case of PermaGrin!
