Drove to the beach to enjoy on of the last warm weekends in New York, then did a manual transmission lesson for the girlfriend. She always drives better in a bikini (sitting on a towel, of course).

Wife & I went on a 160 mile tour in the Sierra Foothills with my PCA region. Top down for the second half. Awesome day, great new friends & 24 of the finest sports cars in the world. Ended at a Micro Brewery in Camino for lunch. Life is good!

Drove it to visit the girlfriend at work and be a coffee delivery ********************, then back to the garage where I changed the transmission oil, then tried to locate my fuel filter... Gave up after 10 minutes and realized that it isn't equipped with a serviceable fuel filter. Checked out what it looks like underneath, located a torn CV boot and determined what next week's project is. Then took it for a drive and saw that 44,000 miles on transmission oil is plenty and changing it was beneficial

Edit: boo censors!

Thought seriously about selling it to be done with the headache.

Checked out a 2006 987 for my mom today. Was pretty nice overall, has a better exhaust note than my 986 does.

Well today was the first day for a spirited drive to test all of my work. Our regional PCA group put on a wonderful drive to Bickleton Wa, then down to Maryhill winery and back home (~240 miles). Got to met Dave Cooley who is the PCA rep for Region 6 Big Sky country who was on one of his required drives, and hear about the vintage Porsche cars he is working on including a beautiful 356. Here are a couple of pics...

(Note: the road may look desolate, but this was the tamest of places to take a picture, everything else in and out of canyons with lots of elevation change, and yes it's dry this is not the green side of Washington...but we have less LEO)!

I got 4 new Hankooks installed. 255/40-17, 215/50-17

Yes, you can fit all 4 new tires in the car to take to the shop.

a front and rear on the passenger seat, a rear in the frunk with the spare removed, and a front in the trunk with the trunk hanging open a bit.

Compared to the old Pilot Sports I already notice an increase in traction but it takes 200-300 mi to properly break them in apparently so it will get even better.

Saturday, took the car to Santiago Canyon, then to Live Oak..
I've taken this ride on my motorcycle many times, was fun to take the car. (Some of you familiar with Cooks Corner)
Came hone the car was hot, the wheels were hot to touch..

I love this hairpin turn at the end of Live Oak,, hard right then an immediate banking uphill left. when you crest the top you cannot see the road for moment..

Oooww, great drive. Highway 1 may be the most fun road :D. There are parts where you literally can see the other side of the road, where you're about to be driving, full 180s lol

Drove it a little and then

painted the lug bolts silver.

yesterday

We drove to Amish country south of Cleveland. There are a lot of nice two lane roads and hills. The blind hills are a little scary when a buggy going 16 mph may be on the other side. Lehman's hardware store is always fun.

A buddy got a set of scales, so my car got weighed today...2650 lbs!! The diet is working. It was a bit heavy on the right rear. Corner balancing comes next.
