Bought new tires just before Christmas so I went and had an alignment done. Seems like they did a pretty good job.
This is my last alignment from two years

Did you get that top off of CL? Looks good.
914racer, Do you have anymore pics of your car? I really like everything you've done to your interior. I was going to paint all my interior trim like yours but got lazy. That's a lot of work!

Thanks, I made the tonneau myself out of fiberglass. You can see more pics under "show and tell" "My prototype inspired Boxster. Or in the Oct. issue of Panorama there is a full article about the car. " A Boxster His Way".

So you're the Michael Murphy who built the prototype tribute Boxster? Awesome job! And it's good that you have a "very understanding wife".
I've always said that the Boxster would be perfect if it had the prototype bumper cover and Speedline wheels. Your new fiberglass piece is great, and also mirrors that of the prototype.
I understand, though, that the new bumper cover creates some cooling issues. Is that correct?
Just wonderin'..........

No, not Craigslist. The seller listed the hardtop in the Classifieds section of the PCA Maverick website. He was moving to a different state, so he let it go for $500. Included was a rolling stand, and factory cover. He also gave me a bag of Porsche Tequipment car care products, and an unused ashtray, which I put on eBay for $100.
Just sayin'............

Very therapeutic day.
Cars & Coffee, a walk on the beach. then back home to change oil and filter - 9 + quarts of lovely clean DT40,
then replaced the brake fluid.
Followed by a drive up through the local mountains for a cleansing ale!

Haha yes she is, a little less so after the "frugal" comment in the article.
The bumper creates no cooling problem, the problem at the swap meet was from me overfilling the reservoir. Since then I've driven 7 hours to Vermont in 80-90 degrees with the A/C on, no problems. Thanks for your interest.

Ordered a Continental TR7412UB-OR for my '97. Has anyone installed one yet in a 986? Over on Rennlist a few 993/964 guys have installed it. Love the retro looks and the colour looks like it will be a decent match...

Dulmer,
That is a nice looking unit for older cars. Certainly better then period or current aftermarket units?

That's what I thought too. I'll take some pics after I install it, but that likely won't be until April. Have to wait out winter here in the Great White North...

Why do I dig this as an acceptable replacement/upgrade to the factory unit?
I like the older styling to keep true to the time period.
I like that it has blue tooth and isn't tacky with chrome and blue LEDs everywhere.
I'll have to look that unit up.
Didn't know Continental made head units.
Off hand, do you know if there's a microphone jack in the back, or just the small one in the unit face?

I ordered it from Germany, off of eBay. It actually has both - there's a mic on the front, but it also comes with one that connects at the back of the unit. I'm going to use this one and run the mic cable over to the location on the instrument cluster where the factory mic would be located. More information on their audio lineup here:
