Sorry, I posted and imgur was giving me trouble so I gave up.

The temp was way too low. I had the heaters in my garage running for 4hrs and I only got it up to about 50. I guess it kinked up just enough to crack it.

Saturday I reinstalled the oil pan. It was sooooo clean when it came down. Zero debris... zero sludge. I could have eaten off of it. I'll refill the oil, and check for leaks, after I install the S cooler later this week.

Installed the upgraded oil pressure relief valve. Breeze.

Yesterday I removed the thermostat and water pump. The WP removal I found to be a breeze... if not tedious. The hoses were a pain to remove... patience was key... don't want to break anything. The fins on the WP looked fine. Today I'll clean up the mating surfaces. Also, today I'll remove the motor mount and replace it with the new part. Time permitting I'll remove the throttle body and rubber intake parts.. clean them out... maybe just install that cooler today.

Replaced Fronk lift supports (pistons)

Buttoned everything back up after replacing the thermostat (low temp)... water pump... upgraded oil pressure relief valve... motor mount... and S oil cooler. Filled it back up with oil... coolant... no leaks. Took it for a few mile spirited drive... no leaks. So far.

Historically the temperature gauge line was hanging on the right side of the zero (0). It now rides between the 1 and 8.

Tomorrow I'll put back on the 2 rear under body panels.

Thanks! I still have the AE exhaust tip along with the original muffler. The original muffler has a minor seam leak and the PO had put on a Borla. The Borla droned too much for me so I put on the Brombacher Sound version which has two fixed tips.

I also have the original side vents which I replaced with the FVD ‘turbo look’ vents. I’m refurbing a set of Aerokit I side skirts which will complete my cosmetic changes.

Some of my local club guys have said the same thing. I’m so anal that i’ll have to have it repainted to match at some point :D

It looks good just the way it is. Don't get anal, then you'll start thinking about changing the rear window trim to be "S" trim to match the windshield. You're already heading down the HPDE slippery slope!

Gazed at the little green light on the battery maintainer that is next to the battery and smiled, knowing it's only four months until I put the battery back in the Boxster and take it for its first drive of 2019!

The weather hasn't been that bad yet. If no snow or ice I'm driving mine.

Yeah, here in Colorado I keep mine in a "semi" stored state. I can usually drive a few times a month through the winter. Might take it out today in fact!

I store mine in one of the large buildings at the county fairgrounds. They store lots of collector cars, boats, RV's, etc. It is very secure and not expensive ($240 for the season but there is no access from the first week in November until the last week in March and you need a reserved day and time to put it in and take it out. I'm parked between some sort of hot rod and an XKE.

Thing I like about NW Florida is we have a slight change of seasons but every month has top down days (like today!).

Did my first oil change myself, always stressful on a 986.
The plug was in so tight I couldn't believe it. Replaced it with a magnet plug.

2 years 3000 miles on the oil, year and a half on the filter. I changed just the filter because I was curious. Ran a big magnet though the old oil, not a bit of metal. Added 0W-50 synthetic. Purrs like a kitten ��

...the new PCA Boxster Register grill badge and the Keels & Wheels car event grill badge.

It was almost 80 degrees here, so it was the perfect time to hit the badges with a layer of clear paint protection and let them dry as I removed the PCA badge and Porsche badge that were already in place and figure out the measurements for adding the two new badges.

I'm all badged up now. It's fun watching kids look at the badges and folks who aren't car people read them and comment on how out of the ordinary my car is compared to all the SUVs.

Convertibles are now only 2.7% of the new car market in the USA. Sad.

Added Mobil Pegasus decals to add vintage vibe, with tribute to our grandfather 550 and 718 racers. Hopefully at least 2 HP gain!

And I was cleaning and treating platstic cowl under the hood and found a plastic cap (that goes over the windshield wiper arm nut) nested between the plastic cover and driver-side fender. I noticed it missing earlier this week and thought it just popped out and flew away while driving... no idea how it got there, feeling like a little miracle, must be old Porsche Pegasus god, saved me $5!

Today I installed my 2.5lb H3R extinguisher on the Rennline quick detach mount. Looks and works great. The whole assembly moves with the seat so no loss of seat adjustment functionality.

Where would be the fire, and how would you access it?

The fire extinguisher is required for my PCA region’s HPDE events. After your first novice event you’re not (supposed to be) allowed on the track without it.

For an engine compartment fire, your only option is to spray into the right had side engine compartment intake cooling vent.

If you’re trapped in the car you would have the extinguisher within reach for fuel or electrical short fires.

For other fires where you can exit the car you should attempt to extinguish by targeting the base of the fire source.

Maybe for your region but not required by all regions or PCA National - some tracks do however make mandatory.

That said, better safer having one than sorry. I do and the Mrs. always mentions the few times she rides in my car "What is this thing again and why is it here? Why isn't there one on your side? It's not really comfortable as it gets in the way of my legs." At least it distracts her from my exhaust bypass for a couple minutes :p

Thanks! Yes, for my region’s HPDE events a fire extinguisher is mandatory after your first event (you get one ‘by’). You might slide by once or twice more, but that’s it. I’ll correct my original post. Then there’s the whole thing with some track rules being stricter than the PCA rules. Better to show up equipped than to fail track tech.

We’ll see how it goes for my wife. Because the Rennline quick detach mount leaves only the flat piece at the bottom when detached, I can always leave the extinguisher in the garage when we’re out together :cheers:

Over the last two weeks I polished my litronics (the lights are from two different cars and the passenger side headlight has a bit of a yellow tone). While working on the headlights I decided to clean my erratic headlight switch wit electrical contact cleaner. For now it appears I will be able to avoid replacing the switch.

I also put my hard top on for the winter and added a sticker honoring the World Seies Champions.

got my Boxster back on the ground yesterday.

The driver side rear axle decided to leave the comfort of the transmission flange. This was because the mechanic in my shop did not torque the axle flange bolts with a torque wrench. But instead tightened them with one of those "L" shaped allen wrenches.

So had to install a new flange on the transmission and since I was there I installed my headers, and FVD Brombacher muffler :D

Also a note to ANYONE installing the cheaper axles from Pelican or any parts house. The bolts they supply are 10x50mm which is the same as OEM. BUT the axle flange is a little thicker thus a little less bite from the bolts. Save yourself some grief and possible future issues and go to Fastenal and get your self some 10x55mm bolts. :D

Oh my! Just a touch under torqued... When I cleaned and repacked my axles with new grease, new boots, etc... I got new bolts from fastenal too, I am lucky to have one less than a mile from my work. I got the same size as OEM (since I stayed with my same axles). I love Fastenal :cheers:
