shift boot question

Is the shift boot on the '97 boxster leather or vinyl? Mine is showing some wear and is going to be replaced soon. What are the options avail.?

I've seen the AGLA leather boots and they are priced about the same as the factory part. Of course, I'd prefer leather at the same price. Is there any difference in the install procedure to make a difference in the choice between factory or aftermarket?

thanks
chris

I believe the factory boots are leather. At least mine was.

I replaced mine with a used one from Ebay... five speed knobs in good condition pop up now and then... most of the ones I've seen are 6 speed.

New ones from Porsche are $$$. Sunset or Brandywine probably have better deals on them than your local dealer. I looked at billet knobs from aftermarket companies, but they all looked too "unPorsche" for something I touch and see so much in the car.

They all just pop out of the center dash piece though. Swapping it out took me all of 60 seconds, and I was going slow to be sure I did it right!
