Light comes on when top is NOT either fully up or down. Hold button longer and it should go off.

It will, the hardest part about the top is holding the button. I still occasionally let go to soon. I have done the mod that lets you put top up and down while in motion. You have to push and hold until light goes off then latch. It takes a few extra seconds that seems like nothing is happening.

Don't feel bad. That is one of the few basic newby mistakes that many of us have made in early ownership. Other mistakes?
1. Don't overfill oil.
2. When putting top down, make sure kleenex box(es) are removed from rear window area- it can dimple plastic rear window.
3. To start engine, clutch must be depressed sufficiently to hear the click and mat must not be behind clutch pedal.
I am sure there are more. Enjoy Boxster ownership. I have owned my Boxster for almost a year and always find an excuse to go for a drive rain, snow or shine.
Welcome to the forum. If in doubt ask. Enjoy!

This is true and happened to me more than once. It seems like the top is all the way down and stopped but the light is still on. Keep your finger on that button until after the light goes out.

This one has scared me a few times when the engine wouldn't start first try.
