Hard wire radar detector

Looking to hard wire my radar detector, seems that fuse D10 is an open accessory slot, but I don't see an easily accessible ground screw - can someone point me in the right direction.

pull carpeted panel around the fuse panel off (couple of screws into fuse panel and a few compression clips as I recall). There is a GP behind there. Plus this will assist you in running the cord up the side of dash and A-pillar.

For the life of me, I cannot find a ground back there. I tried the screw that connects the fusebox to the body; no go; connect ground to my door hinge, and all is good; I don't suppose anyone has a picture of a good ground behind the fuse box is?

Otherwise, I'm going to tap into the phone connection behind the console, as the 986 FAQ shows:

Yes, you could also use the hidden telephone cable to get power and ground. If you choose that way, here is the wiring schematic:



Then you can just run the cord under the dash and to the A-pillars, etc.

Gosh, maybe my memory is failing but I fairly sure there is a GP near the fuse panel - there is on my 997 and I thought so too on my 986. With the outer carpeted panel removed, if you pull the carpet back a little, you should see a very large bundle of wires coming down to the left of fuse panel. I recall it being tucked behind there towards the bottom... I'll try and get you a pic from my 997 this weekend where it is.

Follow up; I followed the 986 FAQ method below, and couldn't be happier; the Phone power supply is switched, so it turns off with the ignition, and the ground was right there behind the console. Routing the wire under the glove box, up the passenger A pillar, and behind the top trim was about as easy as you could hope.

Took about an hour and a half, as I like to take my time.
