it's been a good run, law of averages catches up to me

the last eight months or so I've had to make a lot of repairs to my 99. New top, new top transmission, front end links, rear trailing arms, power steering rack and this week new clutch and flywheel. Woof!

I know what you mean, this month I'm looking at a new clutch, starter, AOS, and I just replaced the MAF. Although since I got the car six years ago, I have only ever had two mechanical issues, where which were easy and relatively inexpensive fixes.

Statistics and law of averages allow us to not complain about things. It actually makes us feel lucky at times!

I will continue to "knock on wood" with my then new 02 Box with ~74k miles.

Yep, 2011 was the first year I had to pour serious money into the car. Trans, clutch, FW, IMS retrofit, WP, Tstat, Struts. Not unusual expenses for a 13 yr old car with 99k miles and 60+ track days. The piggy bank is light right now but the car is running great.

hoping the list of repairs does not continue after this point, Just want to squeeze at least another year or two out of this car and pass it on to another enthusiast.

I've been contemplating an 80's 911 SC or carrera for my next ride...

Since spring of last year when I bought my 2001 Boxster I have had cv joints overhauled, IMS guardian installed, bought second hand snow tires and rims. I am looking at $1-2k year for the next 2-3 years. I hate driving a car that I think might let me down, so I try to keep the maintenance up.

I replaced the AOS over the weekend, that finally caught up with me. Car runs noticeably better without all that crankcase pressure building up! Gotta love that. A simple crankcase breather that fails and builds pressure, enough to reduce power significantly. That being said, I'm not a hater, stuff fails. My exes honda civic had all kinds of stuff go bad over 7-8 years.
I swear at this point, I've had virtually all the ol' standby failures in my car, incl a very close call with the IMS.
