And others of us found the '01S to be the most reliable car we owned in the last 40 cars of varying makes, models and countries of origin (yea I'm old and I buy for a few folks) going back to 1930 as the oldest car and 2011 as the newest.

My '99 was flawless for the 5 months until I did something stupid and totaled it.

But my sample set is pretty small..

Same here. For the firs 4 years plus 4 years after the factory warranty expired my Valmet build 986 had a grand total of 1 unexpected repair (failed throttle body), two if you count a $4 parking brake switch. This included a modest amount of autocrossing and year round driving in the north east. It wasn't until major maintenace time rolled in at the 10 year mark that things started getting expensive quickly. But owning any Porsche long term, and acutally driving it, means buying it twice. Costs do not scale down with residual value.

I wonder if a flat tire and no spare is calculated into the equation? My Finlandia Boxster is still being diagnosed at Jakes, last I heard he thought it might be one of the main bearings.
