I agree in the sense that most older cars have better quality than newer cars.

There are trashed $1000 cars from the 80's and 90's who's quality is better than newer cars.

For example. A new VW Golf has a low quality interior that scratches easily from keys and the top of steering wheels get sun damaged easily.

A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen Golf's interior is usually spotless. Maybe dirty, but without any imperfections, cracks, scratches, or sun damage. Same goes for bumpers and body panels. Older cars had stronger bumpers that did not scratch or dent as easy as newer cars.
